Hi John,
Thanks for the update - it is appreciated.
Just a couple of things to clarify:
1) Does venue confirmed mean there is now a signed contract, or are you
still waiting for the Union on that one?
2) You refer to a budget - was that meant to be attached or is it still to
follow?
Cheers
Richard

IVFDF Sheffield 2008 (29th Feb - 2nd March)
http://www.ivfdf.ceilidhsoc.org/
==Venues==
The Students' Union has now been confirmed as the venue for IVFDF 2008.
Pricing (see budget), facilities etc, have now been formally set and agreed.
Sleeping is not at the Union buildings but in other buildings within 5 mins
of the Union. Pricing and contracts for the external sleeping venues have
now been dealt with. The Union is being much more helpful and co-operative
than the last time we hosted IVFDF at the Union. They are moving their
regular scheduled events around IVFDF to give us the same rooms for the
whole weekend. All the Union's key departments (Ents, TSC, Bar/Catering,
Box Office, Security) are involved this time in helping to make IVFDF a
success rather than dealing with us as a simple room booking (like in
2003). Security will be largely acting as a barrier to keep the Union's
standard (club night) events away from IVFDF, rather than trying to police
security inside IVFDF. This will allow the event to continue to have a
IVFDF feel whilst being at the Un!
ion.
==Artists==
We have booked and agreed pricing with a number of artists
* Vertical Expression and Andrew Swaine
* Glory Strokes
* Gloworms
* Crucible
We are in negotiations with several other artists but have yet to agree fees
and terms.
==Workshops==
While all the workshops have not been booked yet, we have a number of offers
for workshops form booked artists (this makes part of their contract where
applicable), and other artists. So we are exactly where we expected to be.
The Union though its "Give it a go" programme will be helping us to promote
certain workshops to our home audience, as well as offering the Union "Give
it a go" events as workshops to IVFDF ticket holders.
==Catering==
Catering arrangements are more or less sorted with the Union, and the
problems with running short on vegetarian and vegan food experienced in 2003
should be resolved for 2008.
==Bar==
We have arranged for a number of real ales and good ciders to be added to
the normal Union selection for the IVFDF weekend.
==Sound Staging PA==
Our main events room (The Octagon) will have its PA and staging provided by
the Union, and TSC (the Unions Technical team) will be setting up PA. The
other rooms will have staging provided by the Union, while PA will be
provided by ceilidhsoc.
==Sessioning==
We have arranged to take over the University Arms (Union-run pub) for the
weekend as a session venue.
==Publicity==
We have prices for printing the flyers and posters we need with some over
run (see budget).
==Funding==
We have a short list of funding bodies to apply to and have received advice
and contacts for art funding applications. The turnaround time is short,
e.g. 6 weeks.
